A letter to Students and Teachers during Covid 19

Dear students and other teachers,

I know that right now we are not doing things the way we would like. Even though sometimes we need a break from each other, I don’t think either of us envisioned that happening this way. I know I definitely didn’t.

Life is hard right now, for all of us. This isn’t how I want to be spending my time. I miss the days where I could run to the grocery store to get a forgotten dinner ingredient, or to TJ Maxx to peruse the aisles. Right now life pretty much consists of sitting on the couch with my laptop and listening to the dogs whine to go sniff around the yard all day.

All I know is that this isn’t what I want life to be like. I miss the simple things, walking into my classroom in the morning before the students come in, greeting the kids in the hallway on their way into the building, joking with my team in between classes, hugging my kids, the way the sun comes in and lands on the windowsill, and my kids! I really miss my kids, even the ones that make loving them super hard.

Teaching and learning in the time of the corona virus is stressful and scary and hard, and you know what? That is okay. It is okay to be unsure of how we are going to move forward. If there is one thing I know, it’s that we will make it work. I am a firm believer in the power of positive thinking, and I think that is what is keeping me going at this point. We will make it through this and we will make it work.

To all my students, I miss you, I love you, I hope you are staying safe and sane. To all the other students out there, push through, I am sure that your teachers feel the same way I do about my students. This is no vacation for us, we do this job for a reason. We want to get back in the classroom with you! To my team and the other teachers out there, push through this. Keep pushing, you can power through this just like you power through everything else.

Hi! I am a teacher, dogmom, future wife, and blogger. I spend most of my days teaching writing to seventh and eighth graders and then coming home to hang out with my lovable pups! You will get a little bit of everything on this page, but mostly just my diy/cricut projects, my teaching stories, and my life hacks for everything from a-z.
